What's included in the wine tasting tour?
Tours include three winery visits, wine tasting fees (one per person per winery), food, bottled water, a local guide/driver, a souvenir photo, and a free surprise gift.
Come on....the gift is a surprise. You'll like it. OK, if you're really dying to know, call me and I'll give you a hint.
How many wineries can we visit?
Three. Let me know your wine tasting preferences and we'll be able to choose which wineries to visit during your tour.
How many people can you take?
From two to six people. Your tour is considered a private party - we don't mix groups.
Where do you go?
We travel to wineries between Austin and Fredericksburg, Texas. The Texas Wine Trail includes more than 25 wineries. For a list of the wineries we visit click HERE.
Can you pick me up at my hotel?
Yes. We are fully licensed by the City of Austin as a "charter tour". Our chauffeur can pick you up at your hotel, home, or business within Austin's city limits or in the hill country nearby (south to Wimberley and west to Fredericksburg). If you're not sure, give us a call at (512) 573-2877.
How long does the tour last?
Pick up times are set by you - according to your schedule - keeping in mind that most wineries open between 10 and 11am and close between 5 and 6pm.
What about lunch?
If you have chosen to eat al fresco at one of the wineries, a gourmet box lunch will be set up and served to you. The garden patios are shaded and just lovely. And often there is live music on Saturday afternoons. The full sized box lunch includes a gourmet sandwich, fresh fruit, green salad, cheese/crackers, chocolate and dessert.
And, yes, I consider chocolate in it's very own category, outside of dessert.
Another popular choice is to schedule a stop at one of the fine restaurants along our route. Click HERE for a link to some tried and true dining.
How much does the tour cost?
Tours with full sized box lunches are $165/person and includes tasting fees (one per person per winery), bottled water, a local guide/driver, a souvenir photo, and a free surprise gift.
"Just the tour please" includes all of the above, minus the box lunch, for $150/person - and we'd be glad to schedule a stop for lunch at a restaurant. Click HERE for a link to some tried and true dining. I might add, you could forgo lunch altogether and survive quite nicely on the snacks and bottled water that I keep handy on board the bus.
Do you take credit cards?
Yes, Mastercard and Visa. We require a $100 deposit at the time of your tour reservation. It counts toward the total tour cost and is refundable with 24 hours notice.
Is there a minimum charge?
Nope. Aside from the per person ticket price - we can take as few as two people or as many as six. We include one set of wine tasting fees per person at each winery we visit. You may choose to purchase a second (or third!) set of wine tastings at your discretion. Currently wineries charge between $5 and $12 per "tasting".
What's a "tasting"?
It's a sample - a little bit of wine in a fancy glass. Usually you get about 6 different wines to try. And then have fun with your vocabulary describing it. Some people keep a journal to track the wines they've tried. I've been told it takes about 5 "tastings" to equal one glass of wine. And some wineries let you keep the glass (but ask them first!).
Do you have room to accommodate my purchases?
Yes. We do provide limited storage space for your purchases and most wineries are able to ship anywhere within Texas. You'll have to ask the individual wineries and shops as to their shipping policies.
